In November 2017, the European Commission granted Paris Descartes University “HR Excellence in Research” certification for its European Human Resource Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R).
This certification recognizes the university’s contribution to the European Research Area; the excellent quality of its current human resource policy regarding doctoral candidates, researchers, and researching professors; and its plan for further improving this policy.
Since 2015 and as part of the European Research Area, the European Union has wanted to increase the appeal of the profession of researchers, promote mobility, and ensure real career opportunities.
To reach these goals, the European Commission developed a European Research Charter in 2005 as well as a Researcher Recruitment Code of Conduct. These documents define the roles, responsibilities, and rights of both researchers and employers. The charter and code (C&C) are designed to ensure attractive careers in research and improve the recruitment and working conditions of researchers in Europe.
Paris Descartes University signed the European Researcher Charter on July 10, 2006 and reiterated its commitment during its board meeting on June 28, 2016.
“HR Excellence in Research” certification showcases institutions that have signed the European Researcher Charter and the Researcher Recruitment Code of Conduct. These texts make them more attractive to researchers throughout the world and are required to receive certain research grants from the European Union.
