Language Center

The Language Center offers Paris Descartes students and staff free classes in English, German, Spanish, Italian, and French as a Second Language (beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels), as well as review sessions for the TOEIC test.

French as a second language

Language or elective workshop. Free of charge. Attendance is limited.

Goals
Teachers offer a weekly, two-hour session to help students improve, review their skills, and gain new knowledge.

Format
20-hour package (10, two-hour sessions)
Classes are open to exchange students from every faculty in the university.
Start of classes: October 1, 2018

Hard working attitude and active participation

Written work and oral presentations

English, German, Spanish, and Italian

The Language Center offers free English courses (intermediate level and development workshops on oral presentation techniques in English) as well as German, Spanish, and Italian courses to all Paris Descartes students and staff members.

The Language Center also offers special workshops specifically geared towards teachers and researching professors at Paris Descartes, including workshops on English, writing scientific articles, and public speaking for researchers (advanced level).

TOEIC prep courses

The Language Center offers several free prep courses for the TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) exam throughout the year. Three hours of instruction are provided per week during a five-week block. At the final session, students take a practice test.

Goals

  • Students can prepare for the TOEIC Reading & Listening exam by take a weekly, three-hour course during a five-week block. Online exercises are available online after the second week.
  • The TOEIC Speaking & Writing tests measure students’ ability to express themselves orally and in writing. Both an intermediate- and advanced-level exam are available.

Eligibility
All students and staff members at Paris Descartes University who need to take the test to further their careers.
